Guest Blogging, was enjoying its unassailable position, as a perfect way to enhance the SEO value of a website/blog, until January 20, 2013, When Matt Cutts, the head of web spam at Google, announced “ The Decay and fail of guest blogging for SEO” in a blog post that came as a wake up bell for all those websites using guest blogging as a means of link building network.

He stated:

“If you’re using guest blogging as a way to gain links in 2014, you should probably stop. Why? Because over time it’s become a more and more spammy practice…In general I wouldn’t recommend accepting a guest blog post unless you are willing to vouch for someone personally or know him or her well. Likewise, I wouldn’t recommend relying on guest posting, guest blogging sites, or guest blogging SEO as a link building strategy.”

This article created a huge clamor and confusion in the SEO world and soon digital marketing experts forced Matt Cutts to edit the article to add this paragraph for further clarification.

“There are still many good reasons to do some guest blogging (exposure, branding, increased reach, community, etc.). Those reasons existed way before Google and they’ll continue into the future. And there are absolutely some fantastic, high-quality guest bloggers out there…I’m talking about guest blogging for search engine optimization (SEO) purposes.”

Is guest blogging dead, the answer is a resounding No, Guest blogging isn’t dead and it is always a great tool to enhance value if you don’t use it as a link building exercise.
• Make sure the guest blogging matches exactly with the niche at which you operate, keep an eye on quality, preferably do guest blogging by industry experts and professional writers.
• Diversify the URL anchor text across articles; concentrating on a single text might look spammy.
• Build a gradual and natural guest blogging structure, don’t over do it all of a sudden.
• Only accept guest posts that are of high quality and highly relevant, any thing, which is of low quality, might end up hurting you.

Prediction and Conclusion:
